Wellbeing

At Bernard Gilpin Primary School we believe in a healthy body and healthy mind and that wellbeing is fundamental to our health and overall happiness. By looking after our wellbeing and mental health, we can feel happier, more positive and better equipped to get the most out of life.

One of the main ways in which we safeguard our children is by promoting wellbeing in classes and throughout school. Our culture of wellbeing is embedded by doing activities such as Relax Kids, Brain Gym and discussion of virtues.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing

Research shows that there are 5 small steps that we can build into our daily lives to help us feel good and look after our wellbeing.

These steps are known as ‘The 5 Ways to Wellbeing’, which we are using in school in many different ways to encourage and support our children, staff and families to look after their mental health.

Please click on the links below to find more information on ‘The 5 Ways to Wellbeing’ and how we use these to promote positive wellbeing in our school.

We have also formed an exciting new partnership with ‘The Healthy Heads Team’ – a mental health support team provided by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust – to help us to promote positive wellbeing across the school.
